The coin con locator built for collectors

Ticketing platforms and event aggregators show you events, but they filter by their own criteria — paid listings, promoted shows, big brand names. A serious collector needs something more precise: a locator that knows the difference between a small back-issue trader meet and a massive celebrity-driven con, and lets you find either based on your actual location.

CoinsNearMe's event locator pulls from Eventbrite data, direct organizer submissions, and community reports. It covers every verified coin event we can find — from $5 collector shows in VFW halls to $300 multi-day VIP experiences at major convention centers.

Locate coin shows by event type

Different collectors want different conventions. These quick-access filters help narrow by event type:

PCGS on-site events

Conventions where PCGS/NGC grading is available on-site. Submit your comics for professional grading without shipping.

Creator appraisals

Events with scheduled artist and writer appraisals. Bring books to sign, attend panels, get sketches.

Back issue shows

Dealer-heavy shows focused on selling Silver Age, Bronze Age, and Modern key issues. Less celebrity focus, more deals.

Dealer floor events

Conventions with significant dealer/vendor presence. Hundreds of tables selling comics, graded slabs, and collectibles.

Original art shows

Events featuring dealers selling original coin interior pages, covers, and sketches. For OA collectors.

Or find a shop instead

Tips for attending coin shows

Plan the dealer floor first

Most serious collectors do one circuit of the entire dealer floor before buying. You'll spot the best deals and compare prices across dealers. Come back on day 2 or 3 — many dealers drop prices as the show progresses.

Bring cash for better deals

Many dealers prefer cash and will negotiate further for it. Card fees eat into their margins, so a cash offer 5-10% below ask is often accepted.

Get there early for PCGS/NGC drop-off

If there's PCGS on-site grading, the queue builds fast. Drop off on day 1 morning for the best chance at fast-track results before the con ends.

Check your comics for signatures

If you're getting a signature, bring PCGS/NGC witness forms if you plan to grade the signed book. Without a witness, PCGS/NGC will only grade as "signed" (yellow label) — witnessed signatures get the premium "signature series" (blue label).

Combine with a local coin shop visit

After the con, check the coin shop finder for shops in the area. Post-con shop visits often yield finds — some stores even mark down world coins when a con is in town.

Frequently asked questions

What is a coin con locator?
A coin con locator is a location-based search tool that finds upcoming coin conventions near your current position. The best locators use GPS or ZIP code detection to instantly show nearby shows, then let you filter by date, admission price, and event features like PCGS on-site grading or in-store appraisals.
How does the coin con locator work?
Tap "Locate coin shows near me" and the tool detects your location via browser GPS. It then shows upcoming conventions within your state with dates, admission, and event features. You can also type a ZIP code, city, or state manually.
How many coin conventions are tracked?
The locator tracks hundreds of upcoming coin shows across all 50 US states, Washington DC, and every Canadian province. The database is refreshed monthly with new events, date verifications, and past events archived.
Are the coin shows in the locator free?
Many coin shows and back-issue shows are free to attend. Larger conventions charge admission. Every event shows the admission price or a green "Free" tag when applicable. Use the filters to see only free events if that's your preference.
Does the locator include small local shows?
Yes. Unlike ticketing platforms that only show paid events, this locator includes local coin shop appraisals, small dealer shows, back-issue trader meets, and major conventions alike. Anything that collectors consider a "coin event" gets included when verified.
Is the coin con locator mobile-friendly?
Yes. The locator is fully mobile-responsive. On phones, tapping "Locate coin shows near me" uses GPS for instant results. On desktops, it detects your approximate location via browser geolocation.
What's the difference between the locator and the finder?
The coin con locator is optimized for location-first discovery using your current GPS position. The coin con finder is optimized for text-based search by date, ZIP, city, or state. Both search the same event database.
